Latakia Sports City
Latakia Sports City (Arabic: المدينة الرياضية باللاذقية), known also as Al-Assad Sports City, is a sports complex in Latakia, Syria. It was completed in 1987 to host the 1987 Mediterranean Games.
The total area of the complex is 156 hectares. It is owned by the Government of Syria and operated by the Ministry of Territorial Administration.[1]
Facilities
The complex includes:
- The main stadium (Latakia Sports City Stadium) with a capacity of 45,000 spectators.
- Four covered sports halls, with 5,000 seats for the largest and 1,500 seats for the other three halls.
- Four football training gounds.
- A diving pool (21x20 m), a covered swimming pool (25x12.5 m), an Olympic size swimming pool (50x21 m) and a pool for amateur swimmers.
- Modern horse racing park with equestrian sports facilities.
- Tennis club with 11 courts.
- Hotel with a yacht club.
- Art museum
